Meet Lianne

Meet Lianne, founder and director of Next Level Dance Center.

With a BA in Dance Choreography from Columbia College Chicago, Lianne honed her craft under the guidance of esteemed mentors such as Jeff Hancock, Paige Cunningham of the Merce Cunningham Dance Company, Kim Goldman of Lucky Plush Productions, and others including Robert McKee of Giordano Dance Chicago.

During her time in Chicago, Lianne seized opportunities to train with internationally acclaimed dance companies and industry leaders, enriching her skills and perspective. Lianne trained with the pre-professional company “Framework” which toured regionally and competed in the Jazz Dance World Congress in Pittsburgh.

Lianne was also selected to present her choreographic work at the Going Dutch Festival in Chicago.

Returning to Rochester, Lianne joined PUSH Physical Theatre performing nationally, as well as at the Rochester Fringe Festival, and notably collaborating with the Grammy-winning Ying Quartet.

With over 18 years of local teaching experience, Lianne's choreography has garnered numerous awards at regional competitions, earning her a nomination for Choreographer of the Year by NexStar Dance competition in 2019.

Lianne also serves as the Director of Choreography for the non-profit show Sing-Out. Sing-Out is an annual performance designed to raise money for children's charities while educating young people about the importance of community service. Complementing her teaching and performing expertise, Lianne has pursued certifications in Barre Above (2019), Progressing Ballet Technique (2020), and recently Acrobatic Arts (2024) demonstrating her commitment to ongoing learning.

Lianne was honored with the Georgia Deane Memorial Scholarship to attend the DanceLife Teacher’s Conference in Las Vegas in 2023.

As a teacher, Lianne emphasizes the balance between fun and education for students of all levels and ages. As a Director, she advocates for equal opportunities for staff and students alike. And as the owner of NLDC, she prioritizes transparent communication and transactions for parents and faculty.

And if that wasn’t enough… Beyond the dance realm, Lianne serves as the Graphic Design Coordinator for the Monroe County Communications and Special Events Department (whew!).
